LASSIE COME HOME!
Whoever guessed the name Lassie was correct. The boy’s role was called “Timmy” in the TV show played by “Tommy Rettig” Later, Timmy was played by Jon Provost for 7 seasons.
More than one Lassie?
There were always 3 or 4 Lassie look-alikes available around to round out the show if one of the Lassie actor dogs got sick, or perhaps sick and tired of doing “dog tricks” We, believe that the owner/Trainer of record, was Rudd Weatherwax and the day to day Trainer was Frank Inn.
The Name Lassie?
The name of the TV show came from the epic book “Lassie Come Home” by Erick Knight. There was also a movie made in1943 (it was a big hit) starring Roddy McDowell, a British child actor. The TV show came later in the early 1950’s.
